Glaciers and Fjords of Patagonia Chile

The land of Patagonia is more than southern port cities, sheep and penguins. It contains the bulk of the Chilean Fjords, which rival the beauty of the fjords of Norway. Like Norway’s deep waters next to peaked mountains, these fjords also have glaciers, some capping the peaks, others flowing down to the water’s edge. It is still almost as primitive as when Magellan first explored with little signs of humans, except for an occasional fishing vessel.

Not only were the views breathtaking, but the stillness of the waters between the islands was a welcome relief to the rocking of the open seas. Our ship spent two days on a meandering course, giving us the best views possible.
